This Week in Superheroes: Chinese Cars in Space

This week has brought us a lot of cool stuff related to superheroes and the worlds they inhabit. Here are some of the things that made my little geek heart very happy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Chinese Poster

This cute little snapshot of Baby Groot is way too adorable to skip over. I doubt we will be actually seeing this in the film but it looks exactly what they movie is capturing.

Star Wars 40th Anniversary Kenner Toys Re-launch

If you are a fan of toys in any way you know the legend of the first Star Wars toys and Kenner, the company that made their money on a cardboard backdrop. After the huge reaction in 1977, there was the look to merchandise and the toy companies were not ready. There was the ingenious idea to sell the idea of future toys instead of actual toys. That Christmas many kids opened their presents to a piece of cardboard with pictures of their toys. Eventually, the toys were released to much fanfare but the road to getting there was troubled.

This year they are making new versions of the ones released 40 years ago and they look amazing. Can’t wait to get my hands on one or two. You also can get the infamous cardboard backdrop.

The Cars of Mad Max Fury Road

Interceptor 3/4 rear door open

Rictus Erectus Big Foot

While not technically a superhero item, I will argue that this film and Mad Max is a hero to all. Henceforth we got these beautiful shots of all the cars. I can’t say any more because the pictures speak for themselves.

Check out Part 1 and Part 2 online.

Star Wars Model Kits

Here we have new model kits made by Bandai focusing on the ships from the Star Wars universe. The ships that you can get as part of this line are a 1/72 scale Y-wing, TIE fighter, and Darth Vader’s TIE advance; 1/48 scale Snowspeeder and AT-ST Scout Walker; and 1/144 AT-AT, Slave I, and Millennium Falcon (Episode VII version). They all look so detailed and the attention to every pipe is amazing.

Comics Spotlight

Rocket Raccoon #3 from Marvel Comics

Here we have Rocket Raccoon still stuck in New York but a new adversary has arrived on the scene. As the cover shows he is facing off against Kraven the Hunter and I honestly believe that Rocket gives no cares about what is happening on out back water planet and just wants to get off it. It is fun to see learning that he has to deal with all the Earth issues even though he doesn’t want to be here. It was a lot of fun to read through and it ends in an over the top spectacular manner that you just have to read to believe.

Curse Words #2 from Image Comics

This comic is one of those really cool indie comics that creates such a cool world surrounding that I just can’t wait to read more. This month we get to spend more time with the new villains of the book as well as to learn more about the surrounding world of magic. The characters all seem very mysterious and what could be cooler than a pet Koala with super cool shades.

The Flash #17 from DC Comics.

This comic finally brings the conclusion to the Rogues Reloaded storyline. The rogues finally get their comeuppance and it is in glorious fashion. Their plan did work and they were on their way out but obviously, the Flash must win by the end of the day. A cool introduction from this story is Captain Cold’s new gun that uses parts from a black hole generator and part of the speed force to create an even deadlier ice for the Flash to escape from.
