Chapter Twenty Eight: Rhythm, Rhythm, Rhythm
It’s been another solid week here in Georgetown. Projects are moving, momentum is building, and I’m settling into a pace that feels both steady and adaptable. One surprising boost has come from ditching my digital task lists and going back to Post-it notes on my desk. Old school, yes, but it’s helping me stay sharper, prioritize better, and keep progress visible in a world where follow-ups, logistics, and cross-team coordination can easily pile up.

Storytelling Meets Performance
This week, my focus has been on video. Not just filming, but digging into what really makes people stop, watch, and share. Those first few seconds are everything, whether it’s a strong visual, a fresh sound, or a familiar face. At first, we anchored our videos with our Executive Director as a recognizable host, which built real trust with viewers. Now, we’re experimenting—sometimes I jump in within the first 10 seconds, sometimes we lean more on storytelling around protected areas.
The challenge is striking a balance. Social media loves either snack-sized or deeply emotional content, but we’re aiming for that middle ground: engaging, educational, and shareable. Analytics show our reach is small but growing, and our best-performing posts are almost always shared by others. That tells me: sharing is our growth engine. If we create content people want to pass along, our audience will keep expanding.
At the same time, I’ve been wrestling with length. Quick, 30-90 second videos are my sweet spot but I know there’s room to stretch into more dynamic formats: interviews, walk-and-talks, behind-the-scenes conversations. Longer pieces don’t need to be polished productions—they just need to be authentic, well-paced, and worth someone’s time.

Building a Sharper Audience
One ongoing question: who exactly is our audience? Our following is still small (hovering around 100 per channel), but the seeds are there: local supporters, global conservationists, potential donors. Each video, each post, helps us define not just what the Trust stands for online, but who we’re speaking to. That’s the experiment we’re running every time the camera turns on.
The Good, The Challenge, What’s Next
The Good: We’ve welcomed Nathan, our new communications staff member. He’s already bringing great energy, curiosity, and sharp questions, exactly the spark we need.
The Challenge: Navigating what comes after The Marketing Isekai
What’s Next: With elections coming up, we’ll take a slightly quieter approach next week, keeping steady, but mindful. Fingers crossed for a smooth stretch ahead.
